Buyer's Guide
What the Cheapest Managed IT Quote Isn't Telling You
Every managed IT quote lists the same things. Endpoint protection, email security, backup, monitoring. What the quote doesn't say is which products are actually behind those words, and that single detail is where your risk lives. Here is what we see in the field, and how to protect yourself when you're shopping.

The margin game inside bundled IT
Managed IT is sold as a bundle, and bundles hide their ingredients. Two providers can quote you the identical line items at very different prices, and the difference usually isn't efficiency. It's the tools. There is a wide market of cheap, less mature security products that exist so a provider can put a name in every slot of their stack at the lowest possible cost. The line item reads "endpoint protection" either way. One version stops modern attacks. The other version mostly improves the provider's margin. The provider keeps the difference, and the client carries the risk without knowing it.
We've onboarded the aftermath
This isn't theoretical for us. Over the years a number of businesses have come to Tuor after being breached or hacked while paying for one of these bundles. They believed they were protected, because their invoice said so. The lesson cost them downtime, money, and in some cases real damage to their reputation with their own customers, and it's a hard way to learn what was actually behind the words on the quote. Those experiences shaped how we build our stack more than any sales pitch ever could.
Our position, best in breed or nothing
Tuor puts best in breed products in every slot of our security stack, full stop. We may not be the cheapest quote you receive, and we're comfortable with that, because we only use the best products available to secure our clients' brand and data. That is core to our focus. Every tool we deploy is there because it earned the spot on capability, not because it made the bundle more profitable. Our whole stack is aligned to the CIS Controls and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and we review it continuously against what the threat landscape actually looks like, not against what pads a margin.
Why we don't print our stack, and why we'll show you anyway
You won't find our vendor list on this website, and that's deliberate. Publishing exactly which security products protect our clients gives attackers a head start, so we don't hand it out to anonymous visitors. But sit down with us and we'll walk you through every product in the stack by name, why we chose it, and where it lands on independent evaluations. Public silence, full disclosure in the room. Any provider worth hiring should offer you the same.
How to vet any MSP's stack, including ours
When you're shopping for an MSP, ask them exactly which tools they use, in writing if you like. Then do twenty minutes of homework. Look each product up on independent rankings like Gartner's Magic Quadrant and the MITRE ATT&CK evaluations, and check peer review platforms like G2 where thousands of verified users grade these tools every day. One caution as you read the charts. The top right corner of an enterprise quadrant is not automatically the right answer for a smaller business. Some of those platforms are built and priced for companies with thousands of employees and a dedicated security team to run them, and deploying one at a forty person company means paying enterprise prices for complexity nobody can operate. So ask the provider why they chose each tool, what they considered instead, and why it's the best fit for businesses your size, not just the biggest logo on the chart. A provider who selected on quality will enjoy that conversation. A provider who selected on margin will get uncomfortable fast, and that discomfort is your answer. If they won't name their tools in a meeting at all, walk.
Where pricing actually lands
For context while you compare, managed IT in Canada broadly runs from roughly $150 to $400 per user per month, and most small and mid sized businesses land between $175 and $300 for a fully managed program with real security included. Be very careful at the bottom of that range. A quote well below market is not a bargain, it's a signal about what's in the stack. We publish exactly how our own plans are structured, every inclusion and every tier, on our plans comparison page, so you can compare us line by line against anyone.
